Welcome to Comm 306

Welcome to Comm 306 and the world of blogging. If you are reading this, then already you know how to access a blog.
To create your own blog, go to blogger.com and follow the instructions.
Once your blog is a reality, the first thing you must do is to e-mail me (jemig@csub.edu) the address of your blog.
The course requires a minimum of eight entries in your blog – and each entry must be at least 200 words. You may use photos but they are not required.
Your blog can be about anything you are interested in – but must be legal and in reasonably good taste. Avoid deeply personal topics. Keep it light and upbeat and we'll all be happier.
I will grade your blogs each week. Your blog is to be completed each week by midnight Sunday. I will grade sometime on Monday and I will grade all the blogs available at that time. If you wait until Monday to write your blog and you get it done before I begin grading, lucky you. If not, then it will not be graded. The only sure way to ensure your blog will be graded is to submit it before Monday begins. (I am old – sometimes I get up in the middle of the night and grade things – procrastinators beware.)
I will give you a sample rubric in class that will indicate my grading criteria.
Also, and this is important, keep in mind that your blog is public and can be read by anyone. Therefore, be careful of what you write. Avoid disparaging words about anyone, especially friends, family,  coworkers and, especially, bosses.
I would also recommend that you not allow comments on your blog. You accomplish that by going to Options, on the right side of your screen under Post Settings, and selecting "Don't allow comments." Also, you can make your profile private if you would like.

Have fun exploring the blogosphere!

(Note to all you word counters out there: This blog entry is just over 300 words.)
